Project Summary
The Connect-PD project aims at the democratic participation of the Youth in their municipalities favouring the dialogue between themselves and their local authorities. The duration is foreseen in 18th months and 6 organizations from Spain, Italy and Poland will take part in the project and main actions will be implemented in three rural locations: Cieza, Piacenza and Lublin. A network of organizations active in participative democracy with interesting experiences best practices in the field of Youth will be established for the development of the actions and in order to establish a sustainable network on participative democracy.
The Council for the Youth in the municipality of Cieza, as project promoter will present the partnership their experience in the League of Youth Debates, EuroNet will show their work in the EU Project EGN (European Governance Network) and Academy Zlota 9 from Nowy Staw Foundation will exchange their own best practices in events they develop on democracy and participation on first line issues and their contact with politicians. The topics dealt will range from European governance, climatic change, europeism, discrimination to other topics of relevance for the groups involved.
A group composed by 3 young members of each organization leaded by a tutor will take part in the events on participative democracy foreseen in the Project to learn about the different initiatives and implement them in their own countries. This implementation which exchanges best practices identified, will provide conclusions to be submitted to key stakeholders on the issues and disseminated through Youth European networks and to the general public. The actions will be recorded by the youngsters, prepared and loaded in the Project website and other portals such as YouTube so to reach further people interested in taking part as active citizens.
More than 80 young people will be involved directly in the actions. The support of the local authorities and their involvement will be fundamental for the good running of the Project and the achievement of the results foreseen, as well as the media presence in all events. The final idea would be to continue working as a network for future actions at European level on democracy, going further on the needs and topics of highest interest.
